About the Event

Life has adversity and the body is always scanning for safety and threat. And all humans, including health providers, have a nervous system that must be acknowledged as part of our sessions with humans hungry to heal from disordered eating. Is your system regulated to be able to offer co-regulation so that a "safe-enough" experience is available for our clients to land and take in the care and education we have to offer?

Learn more about a "bottom-up" somatic approach to nutrition counseling to make space inside for normative eating and digestion.

Learning Objectives

1. Demonstrate knowledge of the intersection of shame, diet trauma and nervous system physiology and client difficulties moving forward without an attuned client/practitioner relationship.

2. Recognize common protective eating disorder strategies clients use to avoid shame/grief/rage/fear regarding discussing or changing their food and weight.

3. Identify common client struggles through case study review and potential strategies to build practitioner confidence with their clients.
