There is increasing interest in the use of mindfulness-based interventions to address problematic eating behavior and/or aid in lifestyle interventions.
This presentation will provide up to date information regarding the research on mindfulness-based interventions aiming to address problematic eating behaviors and/or help individuals make and sustain healthy habits (e.g., healthy eating, regular exercise). The limitations of this research will also be discussed.

Shawn Hondorp, PhD, ABPP
Dr. Hondorp (formerly Katterman) is a board certified clinical health psychologist.
She earned her master’s degree and doctorate in clinical psychology from Drexel University in Philadelphia. She completed a pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship in clinical health psychology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
She conducts clinical work and research in the Preventive Cardiology and Bariatric Surgery departments at Spectrum Health System in Grand Rapids, MI. She is also an adjunct professor at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and mentors student conducting research projects from surrounding universities (e.g., Grand Valley State University, Ferris State University).
She is passionate about clinical work, research, and education related to helping people make and maintain a healthy lifestyle for the long-term.
