How to Manage Your Feelings to Improve Your Relationship with Food.

This teleconference is for over-eaters, under-eaters, binge-eaters and anyone whose relationship with food or feelings could use improvement. It will cover the evolutionary purpose and function of emotions (yes, there is one!) and explain why so many of us fear our feelings due to what we learned about them in childhood. 

Join Karen Koenig as she describes seven emotions which are difficult for dysregulated eaters and how they may make us turn to food. There will be an explanation of the links between dysregulated eating and trauma, especially how trauma memories can impact our present day experiences, including generating food-seeking behaviors. Moreover, the program will offer ways to deal with traumatic memories rather than use food or weight obsession to manage them ineffectively.

Karen R. Koenig, M.Ed., LCSW, is a psychotherapist, blogger, educator, seven-book international author, and expert on the psychology of eating—the why and how, not the what, of it—with 30-plus years of experience teaching chronic dieters and overeaters how to become “normal” eaters and have a positive relationship with food and their bodies

Ten foreign language editions are available among three of her books.

She is a founding member of the Greater Boston Collaborative for Body Image and Eating Disorders, has served on the Professional Advisory Board of the Multi-service Eating Disorder Association of MA, and has taught seminars for Simmons College School of Social Work, Boston University School of Social Work, Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology, the National Association of Social Work, the Massachusetts Dietetic Association, the National Organization for Women, the Multi-service Eating Disorder Association of Massachusetts, Lee County Hospital Systems, and the University of South Florida Department of Social Work.
