  • Northern California Retreat Center *times for the retreat are listed in EST*

This guided weekend contemplative retreat will focus on the meditation practices of mindful eating and living. When we eat mindfully we involve all the senses by engaging our body and our mind. We utilize color, texture, smell, taste, and sound to nurture our experience. We learn to pay attention to what our body really needs and why. To support cultivating our awareness, we will quiet the mind and open the heart through sitting meditation, gentle yoga, walking meditation and nature awareness practices. Through these practices of deepening our inner awareness of the body, mind and heart we will experience wisdom, compassion and clear seeing. We can experience food as pleasure and nourishment while finding our right relationship to amount and quality in each moment. Mindful eating can also nudge us beyond what we're craving so that we wake up to why we're craving it and open to new choices for ourselves.

Guidance is also provided in preparing, cooking and eating your own meals with mindfulness and loving kindness in the gourmet kitchen stocked with high quality staples. This retreat is open to anyone wanting to deepen their practice, both beginners and for those with more experience in mindfulness meditation and mindful eating. For those considering becoming mindful eating teachers, currently training to be mindful eating teachers, or have already completed training (such as the residential or online MB-EAT Professional Training programs) this is a wonderful opportunity to jumpstart or deepen your own practice. There will also be free time scheduled to enjoy the silence and beauty of the retreat center. Continuing Education Credit is offered.
